ELISHA ALVORD, LAWYER, DEAD
Son of Late Thomas G. Alvord Expires in New York.
BURIED IN OAKWOOD TO-DAY
After Practicing Law Many Years in Colorado, He Went to Live With Daughter - Ill for Long Time.
Elisha Alvord, son of the late Thomas Gold Alvord of this city, is dead. His body is expected to arrive in Syracuse at 5 o'clock this morning and will be taken by M. Ryan & Son, undertakers, to Oakwood Cemetery for burial in the Alvord family plot at 11 o'clock.
The death of Mr. Alvord, who for many years was a resident of Colorado, occurred Thursday at the residence of his youngest daughter, Mrs. Daisy Alvord Mills, formerly of Syracuse, in New York city. He was 67 years old and a half-brother of Mrs. James A. Cheney of No. 105 West Adams street, and of Thomas G. Alvord, jr., of No 401 South Warren street, the latter for many years chief of The New York World's bureau at Washington and later with The New York Herald.
Mr. Alvord was a son of Thomas G. and Amelia Ann Kellogg, the latter having been the former Lieutenant-Governor's first wife. He went West many years ago and practiced law in Colorado. He resided at Pueblo in that state and was at one time county judge of Otero county. Of late he had been residing with his daughter in New York city. A wife, from whom he had been separated many years, is living in California. She was in Syracuse at the time of her mother's death in January of 1909. Relatives in Syracuse last night stated that Mr. Alvord had been ill for a long time and succumbed to heart disease and pneumonia.
