Headstone is incorrect. As the photo shows the date of 1902 and Find A Grave policy states memorial must match headstone and notes made in bio. I will place said year of 1902 in the memorial.

Family history states that Luther's parents' home was on the county line between White and Hamilton. So depending on the room you were in, you could of been in one or the other county. Luther was born Nov 4 after the census enumerator visited his parents home on June 19, 1900*. He could not be counted. His sister Dolly Rose May was born before the visit and she died after the census taker had been by. Luther would tease his wife about being four years older than her. No birth record for him has been found.

According to family bible records that were in the possession of his daughter Joan Etta (Baker) Daube and then given to her niece Carrie (Baker) Hill, who shared them with Allen Austin. Luther was born in Norris City, White County, IL on November 4, 1900.

*The taking of the 1900 census started on June 1. Some enumerators marked the day on the form according to the day they were visiting a household or households. Even then the day could be off by one or more days. Remember this in a time before cars and the enumerator got around to each home by horse and buggy or just horse alone.

Luther and Vakel had 9 children born between 1922 and 1945.
