Two years later, two new partners, Edmund Randolph Williams and Eppa Hunton joined the firm. The firm quickly established itself as a premier southern law firm. Among its accomplishments was the the assemblage of the Virginia Railway and Power Company. In 1916 Anderson met and fell in love with Ellen Glasgow and in 1917 they became secretly engaged.
