Fredrick Thomas Morris "Snake", age 77, of Harrisonburg, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Journey's Crossing in Elkton. Fred was born near Lynnwood, Virginia on March 25, 1934, to the late John Amos and Helen Raynes Morris. He is the last survivor of eight children.

Mr. Morris graduated from Montevideo High School in 1951, and later served in the United States Army from 1954-56. He retired as a Supervisor from DuPont after over 30 years of service, and later was employed with Security at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He had attended Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton, and more recently Vision of Hope Methodist Church in Harrisonburg.

Fred found great joy in his grandchildren, and was an avid baseball fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He played baseball for several years with the Rockingham County League Grottoes Cardinals, in the 1950's.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Irene Evans Morris; two daughters, Becky M. Lam and husband, Jeff and Cheryl M. Dean and husband, Daryl, all of Elkton; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lam, Jonathan Dean, Matthew Lam and Stephanie Dean, and a great number of nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Jeff, in Elkton at anytime. Friends may pay respects at Kyger Funeral Home anytime from 8:30 – 5:30 on Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted 2:30pm Friday, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. The interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
