From page 4 of the March 30, 1911 Skidmore, Missouri New Era newspaper:
"Gracie A. Bohannan was born in Hickory County, Missouri, December 31, 1839, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Oren Masters, March 25, 1911, aged 71 years 2 months and 24 days.
At an early age she came to Nodaway county and was united in marriage May 10, 1859 to Thomas Bohannan at her home near Graham, Mo. Two children were born to them, one daughter, Sallie, and one son, W. T. The daughter died at the age of two years.
Six years after they were married the husband and father died and was laid to rest by the side of their little daughter in the Groves cemetery. Mrs. Bohannan remained a widow the rest of her life. She leaves besides her son, four grandchildren, Charles, Grace, Thomas, and Mildred Bohannan, all of which reside with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Bohannan in St. Joseph, Mo.
Aunt Gracie Bohannan, as she was familiarly called in and around Skidmore was well and favorably known throughout the community and none knew her but to love and respect her. Her entire life has been one of good deeds and kind words, and we know that her Savior can say of her as he did of Mary, "She has done what she could." That is enough. That is all any one can do.
Her funeral was preached by Rev. T. R. Gray at the home of her niece, Mrs. Masters, and she was tenderly laid to rest in the Groves cemetery by the side of her husband and daughter, who had gone on before many years ago."
Note: According to the Abstracted Newspaper Index of Nodaway County, Missouri, 1869-1900 (Patricia Combs O'Dell and Vickey Sanders Baumli, Baltimore, MD: Gateway Press, 1997), page 35, the Maryville Republican newspaper 10 April 1884 edition included information that Thomas Bohannan married Grace Wood on 9 May 1860. The Missouri Marriage Records, 1805-2002 database available via Ancestry.com also shows a marriage on 9 May 1860 between Thomas Bohannon and Gracy Wood.
The 1900 United States Federal Census shows Joseph Good, born August 1845, living with his sister, Gracie A. Bohannan. Joseph's obituary (Skidmore Standard, July 19, 1901, page 1) also says that he lived with his sister, Mrs. Gracie Bohannan.
The 1850 US Census, District 64, Nodaway County, has Samuel, Richmond, Charles, Gracy A, William, and Joseph Good living with Samuel and Gracy Roberts.
