Mrs. H. L. Edmunds Dies Suddenly At 75
Mrs. Ola K. Edmunds, 75, wife of Harry L. Edmunds, died suddenly Saturday afternoon at her home, 304 E. 5th Street. She had been in good health. Members of the family said she lay down for a nap Saturday afternoon and died in her sleep. Mr. Edmunds, who was in Florida, flew to Ottumwa Sunday.
Mrs. Edmunds was the daughter of Elias C. and Matilda Giltner Kitterman. She was born on the Kitterman farm east of Dahlonega, December 3, 1871. She attended Mrs. Peck's Private school on Marion Street in Ottumwa, and upon being graduated took a position with the law firm of Steck and Smith. She and Mr. Edmonds were married May 21, in 1895. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary a year and a half ago. During all their married life Mrs. Edmunds participated in the insurance business with her husband, and also assisted him in the real estate part of the business.
Her only brother, Guy Kitterman, preceded her in death, as did one sister, Osa. She and Mr. Edmonds had no children. In addition to her husband she is survived by a niece, Mrs. Karl Kainz, of Cedar Rapids, and two grandnieces and one grandnephew.
The body is at the Lester Jay funeral home where funeral services will be held at 4 PM Tuesday, in charge of Mrs. Guy Kitterman, who is the first reader of the Ottumwa Christian Science church. Burial will be in Kitterman cemetery northeast of Ottumwa. Pallbearers will be Otis W. Dean, C. V. Pool, A. W. Trautwein, A. Hollis Horrabin, W. R. Wellman and F. A. Nimocks.
