Former Auxiliary for the Archdiocese of Boston and Bishop of the Titular See of Acalissus, Monsignor Thomas Francis Markham was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Boston, on March 22, 1891, and was ordained to the Priesthood on June 2, 1917. Appointed Auxiliary for the Archdiocese of Boston, Massachusetts, on July 18, 1950, he received his Episcopal Consecration on the following September 14, at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross from Richard James Cushing, Archbishop of Boston, assisted by Patrick Aloysius O'Boyle, Archbishop of Washington and by Thomas Kiely Gorman, Bishop of Reno. He died at St. John's Hospital, Lowell, on July 9, 1952, at 4.15 pm., aged 61, after suffering a stroke, and is buried in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Lowell, Massachusetts.
