Son of John Alderson & Margaret J., maiden name unknown, Alderson. John H. Alderson married Jane Eliza née McFarland on 7 October 1857 at the Smithfield Methodist Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh by the Reverend Mr. Cox, Pastor.
John served during the Civil War on two different occasions. John first enlisted on 17 April 1861 in "A" Company, 13th Pennsylvania Infantry in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County for 3 months. On 22 Jul 1864 John H. Alderson second enlistment was in Battery "F", 6th Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery. Served until mustered out with his company on 13 June 1865 at Fort Ethan Allen, Virginia.
4 August 1885 John H. Alderson aged 51, inmate, state asylum of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, died, husband of Jane Eliza Alderson.
One Charles F. McKenna appeared before the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Register of Wills in and for the aforesaid County as the Applicant for Letters of Administration upon the Estate of John Alderson Jr., late of Pittsburgh, Deceased, and swore upon a solemn oath the John Alderson Jr. died at 3:20 A.M. on the 4th day of August A.D. 1885.
