Rev. Martin G. Seitz passed away at the age of 86 on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 at Agape Care in Caro, following a period of declining health. He was born on April 10, 1921 in Blumfield Township of Saginaw County, the son of the late Guy L. and Miriam (Andrus) Seitz. He graduated from Reese High School in 1938 and farmed until the age of 26. He was a graduate of Asbury College, Westminster Theological Seminary, and held a Masters of Divinity Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C. He served United Methodist Churches in Kentucky, Virginia, and Michigan for 51 years. Following retirement he served as Pastor Emeritus in the Reese United Methodist Church. On June 3, 1955 he married Janet Oneida Crabill of Strasburg, Virginia. Surviving him in addition to his wife of 52 years are their four children and spouses: Dr. Martin L. Seitz (Judy) of Wilmore, KY; Ridge Seitz (Nancy) of Reese; Melanie Leipprandt (Joel) of Ubly, and Rev. William R. Seitz (Kristen) of Davisburg. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren: Joel, Tyler, Alicia, Marshall, and Dajnae Leipprandt; Jennifer Reynolds (Joshua), Matthew Seitz; Jordan and Danielle Seitz; Joshua Coates, Julia, Lucy, Nathan, and Theo Seitz. Martin was preceded in death by his brother Robert Seitz, his first wife Bethel Jacobs, their infant daughter Mary E., and his sister Margaret Hartman.

SERVICES
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008 from the Reese United Methodist Church. His son, Rev. William R. Seitz and the Rev. Dr. Harold J. Slater will both officiate with burial to follow in the Blumfield Township Cemetery.

VISITATION
Rev. Seitz's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street in Reese on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
