John W. Bukowski, 72, of Camillus died Tuesday at Community-General Hospital.
Mr. Bukowski was a life resident of the Syracuse area. He was maintenance superintendent many years at Fairmount Fair and retired from Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery.
Mr. Bukowski was an avid fisherman, and his hobby and work were blended during his career at the hatchery. He was instrumental in establishing the hatchery's fishing museum and gave fishing lessons to the public.
Mr. Bukowski was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the West Side Seniors, the Camillus Seniors, the Polish American Citizens Club and the Fisherman's Club.
He served with the Army in World War II and was a former vice commander of Herbert Rossberg Post 8664, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the General Pulaski Post 1650, American Legion.
Surviving are a son, Stanley J. Kowalewski of Camillus; two brothers, Chester and Stanley Bukowski, both of Syracuse; three sisters, Helen Kendrat and Jane and Anne Bukowski, all of Syracuse; a grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 8 a.m. Friday at The Bordynski-Hollis Funeral Home and 8:45 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p m. Thursday at the funeral home, 1105 W. Genesee St.
Contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund.
