A daughter of Bethel Berkshire and Hester Gray, she married on May 26, 1916 to Charles Armstrong (b. 1894, a son of James and Mary Murphy Armstrong). She died of breast cancer. When she was in her last illness, she asked her childhood friend, Edna Conwell McIlvaine, to raise her daughter, Hester.
