Funeral of Pioneer Colquitt Citizen at Midway Church
"Uncle Billy" Murphy Is Buried at Midway Friday Afternoon.
The funeral of Mr. William Murphy, familiarly known to his friends as "Uncle Billy," who died at his home near Murphy's Bridge on Thursday was held Friday afternoon at Midway Church and the interment was at the Midway cemetery.
Mr. Murphy was one of the pioneer citizens of Colquitt, having spent his entire life of 76 years in this county.
He possessed the characteristics of a true friend and a good citizen and was highly esteemed throughout the county.
He is survived by his widow, the following children; Robert Murphy, W. C. Murphy, Walter Murphy, Charlie Murphy, Mrs. Florrie Gay, Mrs. Ruth Sloan, Mrs. Leona Dunlap, Mrs. Mattie Gay, and the following brothers and sisters; Jesse Murphy, S. W. Murphy, Perry Murphy, of Haskell, Fla.; and Mrs. Martha Gay.
A number of other relatives also survive.
