Kathleen A. Goodrich, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Bridges at Bent Creek. Born July 27, 1927 in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Carey and Catherine (Gill) Needham.
Kathleen was a graduate of St. John's High School in Scranton, and until her marriage in September 1947, she was employed by the Capitol Records Company during which time she became acquainted with many of the musical artists of the 1940s. She spent much time traveling with her military officer husband to various assignments in Europe, Asia, and the US. She loved America and has often been referred to as a super patriot. Kathleen was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, was an avid reader of historical publications, and has visited historical sites in all states except Alaska. She is most proud of the educational, professional, and military accomplishments of her two sons and four grandchildren.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Sheldon G. Goodrich; sons Carey C. Goodrich and wife Debra of Mechanicsburg and Richard G. Goodrich and wife Wanda of Stuart, FL; grandchildren Shawn M. Goodrich, Karen Y. Andrews and husband Mark, Kelly K. Ryan and husband Kyle, and Katie R. Spencer and husband Evan; great-grandchildren Kellen M. Andrews, Aidan C. Ryan, and Kayla L. and Keegan C. Spencer; and siblings Mary Andres and husband Robert and Carey Needham and wife Ann, all of Scranton. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Karey Lynn Goodrich and her infant brother, Joseph Needham.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 5, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen D. Weitzel as celebrant. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, at Malpezzi Funeral Home.
