Detective Norman E. Klefisch, DSN 1156, was commissioned as a Police Officer on 02/01/1954 and entered the academy for the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. After the completion of the academy he held the following assignments during his career. They were the 7Th, 12Th, 3Rd, Canine Section, Tactical Deployment Division, Mobile Reserve Section, 4Th, and finally the Bombing & Arson Section. After several years in the Bomb & Arson Unit Detective Klefisch was sent to the F.B.I. National Law Enforcement Academy at Quantico Virginia for in service training. While there, and after completing an extensive physical fitness training program at the F.B.I. Academy, he returned to his dorm room because he wasn't feeling well where he suffered a massive heart attack. He was found dead in the shower. During his career he was awarded 2 Chief's Letters of Commendation on 01/01/1966 and 12/01/1971 for police work above the call of duty. Detective Klefisch had completed 21.55 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Detective Klefisch was also a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II and achieved the rank of Seaman, which is an E-2.
It should be noted that Detective Klefisch was the 1St generation of his family in the career of law enforcement. He was followed into this profession by 2 sons and several other members of his family.
