            FUNERAL SERVICES
                FOR JUDY CRANE

Funeral services for Robert Eugene (Judy) Crane, one of Palmyra's oldest residents, an early railroader and who helped build the Panama canal, were held at Lewis Brothers funeral home in Palmyra, Thursday afternoon. The rites were conducted by the Rev. H. W. Eisenberg, pastor of the Palmyra Methodist church. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery.
When a young man, Mr. Crane took up railroading. While yet in his teens he was aquainted with Addison Clark, the engineer on the train that raced a steamboat from Hannibal to St. Joseph, Mo., for the government mail contract. Mr. Crane himself was a fireman on a locomotive in the day when the engines used wood for fuel.
Early in the 1900's he went to Panama where he worked on the Panama canal. After that he worked for various farmers north of Palmyra for many years. Of late he was the caretaker at the home of Attorney Gray Snyder of Palmyra.
Among surviving relatives are three nephews, John Cook, of Cody, Wyo., Harry E. and Jack Crane, of Wattsonville, Calif., four neices, Mrs. David Hayden and Mrs. W. S. Hayden, of Palmyra, Mrs. J. E. Murphy, of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Mrs. Mattie Shannon, of Oakland, Calif. He also leaves two cousins, Oney Crane, of Palmyra, and Thos J Crane, of Philadelphia. A sister, Mrs. Glover Cook and a brother, Calvin Crane, preceded him in death.
