Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army in Company F, 113th Illinois Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on October 10, 1864 at Eastport, Mississippi. His citation reads "Saved the life of a captain." (bio by: Don Morfe)
