Death: Apr. 28, 1903

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He was served as a Private in the Union Army in Company D, 104th Illinois Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on July 2, 1863 at Elk River, Tennessee. His citation reads "Voluntarily joined a small party that, under a heavy fire, captured a stockade and saved the bridge." Note: The current name of Maxton Cemetery is Woodside-Brookfield Township. (bio by: Don Morfe)
