Glen Rock Kenneth J. Wheat, 86, formerly of Freeland Maryland, died Feb 23 2010 at the Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehilbation Center, Shrewsbury. He was the husband of the late Gladys A.(Stine) Wheat A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friedensaal Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9138 White Church Road, Seven Valleys, with the Rev. Margarita M. Breden officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery with militaty honors by the York County Veterans Guard following yhe service. J. J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc., New Freedom is assisting the family with the arrangements. He was born February 16 1924 in Freeland, Maryland, a son of the late Charles A. and Grace (Hoffman) Wheat. Kenneth retired as a machinist from Black and Decker, Hampstead Md., after 41 years of service. He was a US. Veteran of the Army Signal Corps. serving in World War II, in the European Theatre. He was a former member of Bethlehem (Steltz) Church, Glen Rock and a current member of Friedensaals Evangelical Lutheran Church, Seven Valleys where he served as a former council member. Kenneth was also a member of Austin L. Grove American Legion, Post #403 in Glen Rock. Kenneth enjoyed his vegetable gardening, and traveling with his wife. He is survived by his two daughters, Joan Wisnom of Stewartstown and Regina Roney of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, Gordon J. Wisnom Jr. and his wife Kim; David Wisnom and his wife Michelle; Kelley Wisnom and his wife Audra, all of Stewartstown, and Jessica Wallick of York. five greatchildren, Nicholas Wisnom, Racheal Wisnom, Cassidy Wisnom, Kayla Wisnom and Lindsay Wisnom, and neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Goodman.
