Per Sherlocks Cousin ('daughter' of Elizabeth Hayes): William's first wife was Evelyn Alberta Case whom he married 7 Jul 1945 in Wilmington, DE. William and Evelyn had no children together. It is unknown when they divorced, but Buddy purportedly divorced Evelyn as she was an alcoholic (per Elizabeth Hayes, Evelyn's niece).
