2. Pat Alderman’s book indicates that unmarked grave stones where located along the Nolichucky. Pat states local knowledge is that William Tilson, Jr. had drowned helping his family into the attic during a flood. Three people thought buried there are Wiliam Tilson, Jr., his Mother - Mary Ransom Tilson, his Wife - Ruth Reynolds Tilson, and his Son - Peleg Tilson. Alderman reports death date from M. Tilson’s Family Book as Sept 15, 1824.
3. Oct 1963 flood report by TVA states - “the body of a man was that had drowned was found” (dead) after a Sept 1824 Nolichucky flood. It is inferred that only one person was found dead as originally reported by the “Greeneville Economist”. The body was found down stream from Greasy Creek.(near present Erwin TN) on the Nolichucky.
