"Tilson Farm at forks of Nolichucky/Indian Creek"
William Tilson Sr’s wife Mary Marcy Ransom Tilson dieds (1824)and thought to be buried here. Also, thought to be buried here is William Tilson Jr after dieing from a flood (Sept 1824) and William Jr’s son Peleg (1841).
William (Sr.) Tilson returns to St Clairs after Mary Ransom Tilson dieds in Greasy Cove and St Clairs Bottom Church records William (Sr.) death as April 9, 1833.

1. Washington County TN Jan 1825 record indicating William Tilson was dead when requested to make inventory of his estate. Death estimate from this information is ca1824.
2. Pat Alderman’s book indicates that unmarked grave stones where located along the Nolichucky. Pat states local knowledge is that William Tilson, Jr. had drowned helping his family into the attic during a flood. Three people thought buried there are Wiliam Tilson, Jr., his Mother - Mary Ransom Tilson, his Wife - Ruth Reynolds Tilson, and his Son - Peleg Tilson. Alderman reports death date from M. Tilson’s Family Book as Sept 15, 1824.
3. Oct 1963 flood report by TVA states - “the body of a man was that had drowned was found” (dead) after a Sept 1824 Nolichucky flood. It is inferred that only one person was found dead as originally reported by the “Greeneville Economist”. The body was found down stream from Greasy Creek.(near present Erwin TN) on the Nolichucky. From this information it is inferred that William Tilson’s death date was Sept 1824.
Note: William Tilson Jr is thought to be born at home in Washington County VA at St Clair’s Bottom near current Chilhowee, Smyth County, VA.
