Michael Bernard Jagelski
Bernie, baptized Michael Bernard Jagelski was born October 19, 1935 to Bruno John and Constance Patricia (Fleming) Jagelski. Bernie was the first of seven children born to Bruno and Connie.
Birthing complications resulted in Bernie being hospitalized from early childhood. Though handicapped, he enjoyed working in the orchards and being out of doors.
He loved animals and old time western music. Even as the end drew near, he could bring tears with his version of "On Top of Old Smoky" and "Roll Out the Barrel." His caregivers delighted in his sense of humor and the stories of his childhood.
Bernie's last home was "David's House" in Roseburg, Oregon; a home of true love and compassion. On October 24, 2011, he went home to be with the Lord after losing a battle with cancer.
A memorial mass was held November 19, 2011, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 3916 Interstate Ave., Portland, OR, with a reception following in the Parrish Hall. Internment was at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Portland, OR.
