Harriette (Smith) Kidder was the daughter of Abel and Betsy (Adams) Smith. She was the 2nd wife of Rev. Dr. Daniel Parish Kidder. They were married April 16, 1842. She was a teacher and principal at Worthington Female Seminary in Ohio. She raised 5 children - 3 of her own and two of Cynthias (his 1st wife). He was a minister in the Genesee Conference, New Jersey Conference, Newark Conference and Rock River Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
