Lax Dills Jr., 77, of Waynesville died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 4PM Sunday, November 27, 2011 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Carr officiating.

Born October 19, 1934 in Franklin, North Carolina, to the late Lax and Sally H. Dills Sr., he was retired after 40 years of service with Southern Bell. He graduated from Franklin High School, Franklin NC, where he played football and was a running back and punter. Mr. Dills had been a former resident of Glynn County for 52 years and moved to Brantley County in 2006. He was a member of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church in Franklin, NC, the NRA, Telephone Pioneers, Myer Hill Hunting Club and an honorary member of Lampadoshia Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gunsmith work and gardening.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sanford Dills and John C. Dills Sr., and a sister, Sally West.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Trella Dills of Waynesville, two sons, Keith Dills of Jesup and Scott Dills of Waynesville, two daughters, Kelli Edgy and husband Michael of Waynesville, Jennifer Spivey and fiance' Duane Moody of Waynesville, eleven grandchildren, Marcus Edgy and wife Kelly, April Kelly, Ben Kelly, Rio Dills, Blake Dills, Payton Dills, Samantha Dills, Cheyenne Dills, Chelsea Spivey, Madison Spivey, and Bailey Spivey, four great grandchildren, and two sisters, Grace Dills and Pauline Dills both of Brunswick.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles.
