Benjamin F "Bennie" James, a full blood Choctaw Indian, listed #8248 on the Dawes Commission Final Roll, was born on 31 Jan 1896 and died on 6 Feb 1918.
Bennie was a member of Co E, 142nd Inf, 36th TX Inf Div, US Army, and is believed to have been killed in action during World War I.The family was living in McIntosh Co, OK at the time of his enlistment.
Burial is in the Old James Burial Ground Cemetery, now abandoned, located 6 1/2 miles west of Shady Point, Le Flore Co, OK.
Bennie married Rosa A Looney on 26 Oct 1912 in Pauls Valley, Garvin Co, OK. They had two children
