W. Lindley Huff, 93 of 295 N. Woodlawn Ave. died 3:22 am Sunday June 6, 1982. Memorial services will be 11 :30 am Tuesday in Dawson & Wikoff funeral home. No visitation. Private family burial will be Tuesday morning in the family mausoleum in Greenwood cemetery. Memorials, Decatur Memorial hospital or St. Marys hospital.
Mr. Huff was born in Decatur, son of William James and Cora Huff. He was the retired owner and president of Huff Lumber Co., a business which still operates after 100 years. He was one of the original founders of the Decatur Cadets, a forerunner of the Boy Scouts and founder and chairman of the Board of Security Savings & Loan Association.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church, a former school board member and president from 1932-45, former Decatur Park board member and president from 1953-65, a member and past president of the Decatur Club, member of Country Club of Decatur, Illinois lumber & Material Dealers Association, Great Light Lodge 1064 AF&AM, Springfield Consistory, Ansar Shrine, Beaumanior Commandery 9, Decatur Shrine club, Decatur Rotary club, National Riffle Association, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity,Kappa Delta Chi fraternity, Association of Commerce, Boy Scout Council, Lincoln Memoral Association and a former member of the War Price and rationing Board. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sportsman with many trophies for marksmanship.
He married Helen Page in 1912. Surviving are his wife, daughters, Mrs. Walter(Dorothy) Morey of Decatur, Mrs. Joseph(Lynette) Ludden of La Crosse, Wis. 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren. One son preceded him in death.
