Louisa Clark Chandler, mother of the author, Louise Chandler Moulton, died last Monday night, at the age of seventh-eight. She was a woman of gentle, generous nature, and a noted beauty in her youth. Like her husband, Mrs. Chandler was a Calvinist, but, unlike Mrs. Moulton, the parents held it to be wrong to read romances, to dance or to play at any game of chance, such as draughts or back-gammon.
