Zippe Rubenstein, 3, was traveling with her parents and baby brother from their home in Russia to Easton, Pennsylvania.

Due to pogroms and forced military time for Jewish persons living on Russian Territory, many Jews decided to leave. A strong hatred towards Jews meant segregation, starvation, death and forced labour. Many who could afford to, left the country.
