This morning at 6 o'clock in his home in the first ward in Mayville, Heinrich Bernhard Ruedebusch, where he had lived since July 4, 1860, was called by death after a five days illness of pneumonia at the old age of 83 years and five months.

He was born December 9, 1832 in Grossen-Kneten, Oldenburg, Germany, emigrated to America in 1860 and came directly to Mayville, where he ran an iron and tin goods business for years, which he sold to August Thielke, who died a few years ago.

On July 23, 1865 he married Miss Bertha Kaetel, (a sister of Doctor C. H. Kaetel, formerly residing in Mayville), who died December 29, 1873.

Two daughters survive him, Albertine Ruedebusch and Ottilie, Mrs. H. H. Forkmann and a sister, Mrs. Heinrich F. Ruedeusch of Mayville.

One sister, Mrs. Diedrich Naber died in 1897.

A hopeful son, Hugo, died at the age of 10 and another son, Alexander, died at a tender age. One daughter, Bertha, also died in childhood.

The deceased was one of the staunchest and bravest Germans in Mayville. His wife died early, but he was a loyal, devoted father to his children all his life. He cared for and loved music above all else. Until a year ago he was still making violins and cellos. His thirst for wisdom was exceedingly great and remained so to the end. His love of reading good literature remained with him into old age.

A true philanthropist and a noble character has passed away.

Honor his memory.

The funeral will most likely take place on Friday and Franz Kirchner from Milwaukee will give the eulogy.

The body will be buried in the Graceland Cemetery.

Our deepest condolences to the bereaved and relatives.

Again has Mayville lost one of its first citizens. Henry Bernhard Ruedebusch, for over half a century a resident of Mayville, died Tuesday morning at six o'clock. He reached the fine old age of 83 years, 5 months, and his health had always been of the best until, on Friday, he contracted pneumonia which ended his long and busy life.

He leaves two daughters who have the sympathy of all: Mrs. Ottilie Forkmann, who has been associated with the Dodge Co. Banner for years and Miss Albertine, who has been prominent in our city's musical circles for years. The latter gave her sister and father much anxiety the past winter with her long and severe illness and now that she has recovered the father passes away.

He was born Dec. 9, 1832 in Oldenburg, Germany, where he grew up and traveled extensively. In 1860 he came to America with his parents and two sisters, direct to Mayville. He was married July 23, 1865 to Albertine Kaetel, sister of Dr. Carl J. Kaetel of Milwaukee.

Of the children a daughter, Bertha, died at a tender age as did a son, Alexander, another, Hugo, at the age of ten years. The wife and mother died Dec. 29, 1873 after the birth of her youngest child.

Of his sisters one survives, Mrs. Henry Ruedebusch of this city. The other, Mrs. Dietrich Naber, died in 1897.

Mr. Ruedebusch was a cabinet maker by trade and acquired a furniture shop which he sold to Adam Dietz. For years then he conducted a hardware store, now the property of the August Thielkes. In 1886 the family moved to Milwaukee but returned to Mayville a year later. He continued to build furniture, but his greatest delight was to build violins. Five of them, and a three-quarter size cello, were his last year's work.

The funeral takes place today at 2 o'clock p. m. H. Petstalozzi of Milwaukee will deliver the eulogy. The interment will be at Graceland cemetery.

Our sincere sympathy is with the bereaved relatives.
