Mrs. Ottilie Forkmann died last Tuesday in Beaver Dam hospital after a short illness, having reached the age of 74 years. She was born in Mayville on September 12, 1870, the daughter of Henry B. and Albertine Ruedebusch. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. There are no immediate relatives surviving.
In 1893 she was married to Dr. Hans Forkmann, scholar, teacher, and editor. Dr. Forkmann died suddenly on August 8, 1925, depriving Mayville of one of its most brilliant citizens. For a number of years Mrs. Forkmann was totally blind, but she continued to be well informed and alert with the aid of her victrola, with its books for the blind, and the radio. She was a member of the Damensektion and the Damenchor.
Funeral services were held on Friday at the Moul Funeral home, with B. J. Husting as speaker. Miss Ruth Strampe sang two songs. At Mrs. Forkmann's request, her remains were cremated at Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee and her ashes were scattered on her husband's grave.
