Pvt. Delmer V. Fraysier

Pvt. Delmer V. Fraysier, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Fraysier, Fort Blackmore, Va., was killed in action in Italy, July 15, according to the message received by his parents from the war department. (Kingsport Times, Sunday, Aug. 13, 1944, p. 13, Col. 4)


Pvt. D. V. Fraysier

The body of Pvt. Delmer V. Fraysier, who lost his life near Rome, Italy, in February (July 15), 1944, will arrive at the Clinchfield Railroad station Friday accompanied by military escort. Kingspot Veterans of Foreign wars will meet the train, and Scott County Legion Post No. 65 will furnish a color guard and pallbearers and accompany the body to McConnell Funeral Home, Gate City. Funeral is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Sunday at McConnell Memorial Church, Wayland, Va. The body will be at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Fraysier, on Fort Blackmore Road near Gate City form Saturday afternoon until the funeral hour. Private Fraysier was a native of Fort Blackmore and was graduated from Shoemaker High School, Gate City. He was inducted into the Army August 21, 1943. Before that he was employed in the acetate division of Eastman Corporation. He is survived by his parents; three sisters, Misses Madge and Ruby Fraysier, Gate City, and Mrs. Glenn Crook, Fort Blackmore; five brothers, Stephen J., Youngstown, Ohio; Daniel W., Rochester, N.Y.; Earl R., with the Army in Germany; Roy L., Miami, Fla., and Charles W. Pvt. Delmer Fraysier

Gate City, Va. - (Spl.) - Funeral rites for Pvt. Delmer V. Fraysier, whose body was returned here Friday from Italy, where he lost his life in February (July 15), 1944, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at McConnell Memorial Church, Wayland, Va. The Rev. C. W. Breece, pastor, and the Rev. James A. Boatright will officiate. Burial will be in the veterans section of Holston View Cemetery, with members of American Legion Post No. 65 serving as pallbearers and taking charge of military honors at the grave.
