Married Jean Basile Pelletier (Peltier) on Nov. 14, 1841 in Saint Michael Roman Catholic Church in Belleville, Hastings, Ontario.

John and Rose had seven children together, the last, Eleanor, was born after her father passed.

Rose married Narcisse "Nelson" Hebert in 1856. They had four children together. In 1861, the family was living in Hungerford, Hastings, Ontario. The family immigrated to Bay City, Michigan in 1866. Nelson worked various jobs to support his family, including fishing, working in a saw mill and working in a saloon. Nelson died in 1883. Rose lived with her various children until her death at her son, John Peltier's house in Bay City. Rose was a very social person and loved communicating in her native tongue of French. Her cause of death was pneumonia.

Note: Year of birth on her certificate of death is incorrect. Name on death certificate is "Rosalie Herbert".
