Mrs. Sharen A. Baker, 57, of Elsberry, MO, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy. She was born on June 8, 1954 in Sag Harbor Long Island, NY. Her family moved to St. Louis and Sharen graduated from Hazelwood High School. She then went to Florissant Valley and later graduated from Lutheran Medical School of Nursing with her R.N. degree. Through a mutual friend, she met the love of her life, John W. Baker Jr. Shortly after, they were married on May 30, 1986 in Elsberry. Sharen began working as a labor and delivery nurse at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy and later worked at St. Joseph West Hospital at Lake St. Louis. Together they raised their children, Michael, Nicholas and Tamara. The family enjoyed camping, and traveling across the United States on vacations. Fishing was also a hobby Sharen liked. She and her husband had horses, Fox Trotter and Tennessee Walkers that they both took care of. A special horse of Sharen's was Rex, a Tennessee Walker. Sharen's family said she was an excellent cook and also loved her daylilies, mums, roses and special Star Gazing Lilies in her garden. Sharen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She is survived by her beloved husband, John W. Baker Jr. of Elsberry; her sons: Michael and wife Jamie Baker of Hk. Pt, Nicholas J. and wife Crystal Baker of Pilot Grove and daughter: Tamara and husband Lonnie Sturgess of Pilot Grove and seven wonderful grandchildren: Madelyn, Kyle, Dylan, Sierra, Cheyenne, Kayle and Latin.

Funeral service to be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379. Officiating: Rev. George Prior. Interment to follow in the Troy City Cemetery, Troy.

Visitation to be held from 4-8p.m. on Friday at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, Troy. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice, c/o the funeral home.
