Eldon James Spencer, born Sept. 5, 1930, in Roy, Weber County, Utah, to Heber and Corilla Spencer, passed away at home Dec.4, 2006, in Meridian, Idaho. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel in Meridian. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, with visitation one hour prior at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sunnybrook Ward, 2515 W. Ustick, Meridian. Eldon graduated from Nampa High School and married Barbara Ann Martin in the Salt Lake City Temple on Nov. 30, 1930. They raised six sons and one daughter on a farm in Meridian. Eldon was a faithful high priest in the LDS church and served in many callings. He was a counselor in a bishopric, a member of an elders quorum presidency, a home teacher, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and husband. His hobbies were gardening, woodworking and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a son. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his brother Jerry, his five sons, Jim (Martha), Lorenzo , Ron (Maureen), Alan (Wendy), and Jay (Kathy); one daughter, Annette (Michael) Moore; 27 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to send a heartfelt thanks to Horizon Hospice.
