Reincke in Russia or Germany about 1882 and had at least eight children: Andrew; Anna; Caroline; all born in Russian Poland; Julia; Frederick; Charles; Heinrich; George; all born in Jersey City, New Jersey. Adam was a sugar factory laborer, probably the American Sugar Refining Company, in Jersey City.

Oral family history says Adam Sterrath is an only child.

In the Court of Common Pleas, Hudson County, New Jersey, May 27, 1893: Adam Steirath [sic] a native of Russia, age 25, arrived in the United States on or about the first day of August, 1887 and it is his intention to become a citizen of the United States of America and to renounce forever all allegiance to the Czar of Russia.
