Mrs. Gladys Virginia Wiles, West Patrick Street Extended, died at Frederick Memorial Hospital Thursday, July 3. Born in Middletown Valley Feb. 8, 1903, she was a daughter of the late John and Laure Ahalt Beachley. She was the wife of Mr. Charles I. Wiles Sr.
Mrs Wiles was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. She was a member and past president of the Florence Travers Sunday School Class, was a active member of the Women of Moose Lodge 347, serving many years as escort, and was active in volunteer work at Montevue.
Surviving, besides her husband, are three sons, Charles I. Wiles Jr. of Germantown, Earl B. Wiles of Westminster and Bernard L. Wiles of Littlestown, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. John B. (Joyce) Cramer, Davidsville, and Mrs James R. (Charlotte) Tyeryar, Yorktown, Va.; one brother, Claude Beachley, Middletown; one sister, Mrs. Norma Keller, Middletown; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, at the Smith, Fadeley, Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, from the funeral home. The Rev. Francis Reinberger, Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Park.
