Alma E. Widener, 93, of Blair, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, in Blair.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 1, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Alma Eleanor Widener was born June 10, 1910, in Kennard to Nels and Johanna Swanson. The family lived on a farm west of Kennard. She attended grade school and high school in Kennard and graduated in 1928. She attended Wayne State College after high school and was a teacher in rural schools in Washington County for 12 years.

On June 30, 1940, she married Howard Widener in Kennard. They lived on a farm north of Tekamah until 1944, when they moved to Herman. The couple moved back to Tekamah in 1973, where Mrs. Widener lived until 1999, when she moved to the Carter House Assisted Living Facility in Blair.

Mrs. Widener is survived by her children, Bob Widener of Key West, Fla., Mary Snow of Blair, and Kenny Widener of Herman; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephew, former students and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; six brothers, Albert, Carl, Harry, Elmer, Leonard, and Fred; and two sisters, Hilma Sanders and Ellen Isham.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
