Memorial services were held Monday Dec 23, from Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson for Esther P. Langford, 84, longtime Jefferson resident.

The Rev. Roger Miller, pastor of Central Christian Church of Jefferson
officiated Marilynn Hoskinson was musician. Interment was in Jefferson
Cemetery.

Esther Phyllis Langford, daughter of Arthur and Nellie Shepherd Glines, was born Jan 23, 1901 at Trenton, MO. She died Dec 19 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

Esther lived with her grandmother and attended school in Missouri, and later in Des Moines. Following her schooling she worked as a seamstress for a dry cleaning firm.

On May 13, 1916, Esther was united in marriage to Thomas LaSalle Langford at Des Moines. They were the parents of twelve children, Jack, Verl, Ruth, Betty, Bonnie, Dale, Jean, Donald, Kay, Richard (Joe), Thomas and Marjorie. The family made their home in the Fort Dodge area for a time before moving to Jefferson where they had lived for over 60 years.

Esther was a member of Central Christian Church in Jefferson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas LaSalle; one son, Thomas Lloyd; one daughter, Marjorie; one grandson; and one great grandson.

Survivors include five sons, Jack R. Langford of Nauvoo, IL, Verl Langford of Dallas, TX, Dale Langford of Conway, AR, Donald Langford of Earlham and Richard (Joe) Langford of Dana; five daughters, Ruth McCollum of Jefferson, Betty (Mrs. Neil) Peacock of Greenfield; Bonnie Hostetler and Jean (Mrs. John) Burk both of Jefferson and Kay (Mrs. Harrie) Buswell of Atlanta, GA; 30 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
