| Birth: | Oct. 8, 1895, Albania | | Death: | Apr. 9, 1961 Paris, France |  Albanian Monarch. Became President of Albania in 1925, and in 1928 he declared Albania a Kingdom and himself as King Zog I. As Europe's only Moslem country and poorest and most economically undeveloped country, most of his subjects Moslem peasant farmers. On 1939 the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini set his eyes on Albania across the Adriatic from Italy and demanded on March 25, that King Zog accept Italian control over his country, even offering money. As a result, Italy invaded Albania on April 7, 1939. King Zog and his family had to flee Albania and live in exile.
