Carol King Summers, 71, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011. Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9:30 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. Funeral services followed at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Reverends Dr. Don Higginbotham, George Watts, Gary Covin and Jake Edwards officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation as held Friday evening, Nov. 18.
Mrs. Summers was born Nov. 20, 1939, in San Antonio, the daughter of Stewart King and Lillian Davis King. She married Robert (Bob) Summers on April 4, 1964, in San Antonio and he survives.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Summers is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, including Catherine and Scott Mills of Fredericksburg and Stacey and Ryan O'Quinn of San Antonio. Survivors also include two grandchildren, and a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and David Stallard of Whitney. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers included Paul Vickery, Leo Wall, Craig King, Tommy Young, Clint Hendricks and Brent Mayes. Honorary pallbearers were Nancy Benda, Nancy Coon, Jackie Johnson, Joanne Hall and Barbara Fry.
