Maurine Elizabeth Lane, of Sedalia, died May 15, 2007, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born Jun 7, 1928, in Omaha, NE, the daughter of William J and Gladys Cecy Dowler Moore. On Sep 2, 1950 in Sedalia, she was married to Harold J Lane, who preceded her in death on Aug 29, 2006.
Mrs Lane was a 1946 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She always wanted to be a nurse from an early age, and to work with babies. She became an LPN after graduating from State Fair Community College, and worked at General Hospital in Kansas City. She later received her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star 257 for 50 years, EPC, local chapter – MONA, and a Girl Scout leader for 11 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church. She was Book Fair director at Heber Hunt School for 5 years. She also did latch hook rugs for 10 years and entered them in the Missouri State Fair and won blue and red ribbons. She founded Expectant Parents Class with Sue Felton and taught and did curriculum for 10 years. Mrs Lane was also Day Camp director for Girl Scouts for 5 years, and served as publicity director for the Girl Scouts.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Ann Harvey and husband Gary, of Blue Springs, MO and Janet Holcomb and husband Tom, also of Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Catherine Sue Lane; and two brothers, Donald L Moore, and Robert Bruce Moore, who died in infancy.
Pallbearers will be Tom Holcomb, Gary Harvey, Brent Ball, Tommy Brittendall, Justin Backes and Sarah Brittendall. Honorary pallbearers will be Lisa Harvey, Cathy Ball and Erica Harvey.
