Hulda Augusta McLaughlin, wife of Sam McLaughlin of this city, passed away at her home in Chillicothe, Monday, at the age of 86 years and 3 months. She had been in ailing health for a long time and her death was not unexpected.
She was born in Prussia, Germany, December 29, 1850, the daughter of Mary Elizabeth and Frederick Schultz and came to this country with her parents when she was five years old.
She spent most of her early life in the Chillicothe vicinity where she met Samuel A. McLaughlin, to whom she was married December 17, 1869, at Sparland, Ill.
They located on a farm near here and lived there until his retirement, after which they moved into town. It was at there home here that she passed away.
