Herman I. Rains, age 52 (sic - should be 62), of Pittsboro, died there Monday. Services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Gregory Funeral Home in Pittsboro. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Jamestown.
Mr. Rains lived at Jamestown in his youth and was a railroad telegrapher at Pittsboro and Lizton for a number of years. He later was chief inspector for the battery plant of Presto-Lite in Vincennes. He was a member of the Christian Church.
Surviving are the widow, Hazel, two daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Bray of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Dorothy Helen Smith of Pittsboro; one son, James, of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Todd of Sydney, Illinois, and Mrs. Hazel Miller, and one brother, Matson Rains, of Danville, Illinois.
