Born Nov. 14, 1917, Ollie grew up in Montpelier and attended the public schools.
After graduating from Montpelier High School, she was employed by Vermont's Treasury Department.
On a frigid Montpelier day in Feb. 1943, she married Douglas Robie, and soon after moved to Connecticut. The couple raised their family of three boys in Berlin, Conn. After the death of her husband, Ollie lived in Cromwell, Conn., Marco Island, Fla., Montpelier and Naples, Fla. Ollie lived an active and full life.
Whether it was pursuing her passion for tennis, keeping her kids on the straight and narrow, or volunteering for worthy causes, you could always count on the fact that Ollie would be on the move. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Ladies Guild and the Forever Young Club and a volunteer for the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Red Cross Blood Drives. All who met Ollie were always greeted with a smile and warm heart. Many of her friends were much younger, which speaks to her youthful spirit and active lifestyle.
She is survived by her sister, Lola P. Aiken of Montpelier; and three sons, Doug and his wife, Margie, of Underhill, Scott and his wife, Ellen, of Marco Island, Fla. and Lee and his wife, Penny, of Loveland, OH. Ollie's grandchildren are Douglas M. Robie, Jesse Robie, Kristen Formica, Erik Robie, James Robie, Jennifer Robie and Taylor Robie; and her great-grandchildren are Samantha, Jonathan and Addison Formica and Tyler, Teigan and Trevor Robie.
A memorial mass in Ollie's honor will be held at the Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, Conn. at 9 a.m. on Jan. 4, 2012.
Ollie will join her husband, Doug, at a private graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery.
