Mr. Descant, 86, of Bunkie, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, in Bunkie General Hospital.
He was a salesman for APAC, a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bunkie and a member of St. Anthony Knights of Columbus Council 2395 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline "Polly" Descant nee Normand; parents, Albert and Melanie Bergeron Descant; three sisters, Anna Kevlin, Ena Sonnier and Edna Kraus; and two brothers, Edison Descant and Pete Descant.
Survivors include one son, Perry Chatelain of Bunkie; one daughter, Brenda Mathieu of Albany, Ga.; one brother, Albert Lee Descant of Marksville; one sister, Elday Latiolais of Lake Charles; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Descant, Van Descant, Chris Chatelain, Richard Klingensmith, Gerard Moreau Jr.and Richard Gilcrease.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Melancon Funeral Home in Bunkie.
