| Birth: | Nov. 5, 1868 | | Death: | Nov. 9, 1908 | US Congressman. Carmack was a newspaper editor before being elected as a U.S. Representative from Tennessee in 1897. He served until he was elected as a U.S. Senator from Tennessee (1901-1907). In 1908, he lost an election for Tennessee governor to Malcolm Patterson.
