Betty was born Aug. 29, 1922 in Blair, Nebraska to Helen (Stricklett) and Herbert Henningsen. She was a graduate of Blair High School and lived her entire life in Blair.
In June, 1940, she married J.B. Long.
Mrs. Long was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, was active with golf and bridge club, served on the board of the American Cancer Society, and was a member of the Betty Club.
She was a loving mother figure to many. The couple raised Rebecca (Mrs. Don) Young of Grand Island, Patricia (Mrs. Gary) Gaver of Mooreheaven, Fla., and Donna (Mrs. Lawrence) Tietz Jr. of Omaha, along with many nieces and nephews.
Betty I. Long died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Don Young, of Grand Island.
Funeral services for Betty I. Long, 81, of Blair, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.
