Death: Jul. 5, 1897

Missouri, USA

Mary Ann Garner Trapp, the youngest daughter of Foushee and Mary Knott Garner was born in Ray County, Missouri on June the 3rd, 1821. She was 12 when her parents broke up housekeeping due to a divorce and she was almost 18 when she came to the Platte Purchase of Missouri with her brothers, Neri and Jeremiah and her mother. They crossed the Nodaway River and homesteaded land in Holt County.

She married William R. Trapp, the son of Martin Trapp Jr and Jeminia Dodson. They were married on January 18, 1838 in Lafayette County, Missouri by William George Allison, MG (William's brother-in-law). William R. Trapp was born Sept. 22, 1818 in what is now Lafayette County, Missouri. William was a leading and prominent citizen of Missouri. He was ordained an Elder in the Christian Church in 1843 and was a pioneer preacher who baptized several members of the Garner family in the Nodaway River. William was also a farmer. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in the Fourth Regiment of the Missouri State Militia Cavalry and served as a chaplain for nearly a year and a half until ill health forced him to return home. In 1863 he was elected to serve one term in the Missouri senate.

The family lived in Andrew County until Feb. 1866 when they moved to Graham, Nodaway County for three years before returning to Andrew County. William died in Filmore, Andrew County in Dec. of 1878 and Mary died in Graham, Nodaway County July 5, 1879. They also spent several years at Marysville, Missouri.
They were the parents of 11 children and their grandson, Martin Edward Trapp was the former governor of Oklahoma. (1924-1927)
