--GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Ivey Beckham Sandel, 93, formerly of Great Falls and the widow of J. D. Sandel, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Trident Hospital in Charleston, S.C.
--A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral home, Great Falls, with the Revs. LaVaughn Young, Ken Hill and Mike Sollers officiating.
--The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. on Monday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls.
--Born March 12, 1918, in Lancaster County, Mrs. Sandel was the daughter of the late Amsey and Mollie Rollins Beckham. She attended the schools of Great Falls and later received her GED. She was formerly employed with J. P. Stevens until 1962, after which she received her nursing degree from Lancaster Hospital and practiced in area hospitals and nursing homes until 1994. Mrs. Sandel was a member of the Evangel Temple Assembly of God.
--Surviving are two sons, David Blease Sandel and wife, Lizzie, of Greensboro, N.C., and Ken Sandel and wife, Patti, of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Janice Sharpe and husband, the Rev. Wallace Sharpe, of Ladson, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Kim Gardner of Juneau, Alaska, Tammy Collins of Oklahoma City, Okla., Melanie Griffith of Spartanburg, S.C., Donna Kay Johnson of Cherryville, N.C., David Blease Sandel Jr. of Kernersville, N.C., Scott Sandel of Gallatin, Tenn., Todd Sandel of Atlanta, Ga., and Tiffany Bledsoe of Old Hickory, Tenn.; and 19 great-grandchildren.
