US District Judge, Civil Rights Figure. During World War II, Lynne received a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. While serving as a US District Judge (1946-1973), he made several key Civil rights rulings. He prohibited Governor George C. Wallace from barring two black students from attending the University of Alabama in 1963.
