Wanda Lee Corzine Robinson, 95, of Murphysboro, completed her earthly life on Monday, July 26, 2010 and entered into life eternal.
She was born in Cairo on May 9, 1915 to the Rev. Charley Frank and Emma (Douglas) Corzine. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Dr. Wendell A. Robinson on July 26, 1936, at Centralia Demaree United Methodist Church by her father.
She joined her husband in pastoring these United Methodist Churches: Worden 1937, Madison 1940, Cairo Tigert Memorial 1944, Carmi First 1947, Carbondale District Superintendency 1953, Marion First 1959, Olney First 1965. They lived 22 years in Olney in retirement. Wanda was currently a member of the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro.
Wanda was known for her beautiful handcrafts and pound cakes, which she used to bring joy to many parishioners and friends. She was known for her unusual handmade detailed Christmas scenes made from bottles, cardboard, cloth, etc. Her displays ranged from angel choirs, nativities, Marion Square to an African Village. The village was a replica where she and church members worked to build a mission in Africa, in 1978. In 1953 they traveled to Japan to establish a church in a Tokyo suburb. She and her husband were delegates to the 10th World Methodist Conference in Oslo, Norway, in 1961. Travel was a lifelong passion.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law; Sandra and the Rev. Earl Renshaw of Murphysboro, and the Rev. Sharon R. Potter of Carterville; four grandchildren, Pastors Lisa and Doug Cherry of Carbondale, Elizabeth and husband Jeff Groh of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jay Potter and wife Erin of New York City, N.Y., and Andrea Potter of Davenport, Iowa; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, one brother; Lilbourn Corzine of Dallas, Texas; one sister-in-law, Sally Corzine Fate of Memphis, Tenn.; also numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 2002; two brothers, C.F. and Marvin Corzine; and a half-sister, Irene Baggett.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. A funeral service will be held at Centralia Demaree United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, with visitation one hour prior. The family will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Centralia on Old Route 51.
